Back even 10-15 years ago, people were much more selective about where and when they took photographs. With the introduction of digital cameras and cell phone cameras, suddenly people didn’t have to worry about wasting their film. It was all stored on tiny disks and chips. Because of this, we have all gone picture crazy, right? The Finger Lakes is an especially beautiful place to take photos, and tourists and locals alike are full of great shots. So I’ve come up with a list of 7 types of photos we all take in the Finger Lakes.
1. Lake at Dusk
It’s no secret that each lake within the Finger Lakes each has their own beauty. This is especially true during golden hour or sunset! The colors of the sky mixed with the icy tones of the lakes make for a spectacular masterpiece.
2. The Wine Glass
If you have any taste for wine at all, chances are if you spend any time in the area you’ll end up at at least a few wineries. Then there’s the inevitable wine glass picture. It’s okay – everyone does it!
3. Jumping Pictures
We tried many times (and ultimately failed) to achieve a picture where we were all relatively the same height up in the air. But we had fun and laughed a lot so I’d say it was still a success!
4. Waterfall Shots
If you come to the area and don’t get to enjoy any waterfalls, I’m sorry. Really, I don’t know what else to say.
It seems that the hashtag “lake life” was pretty popular this summer, so it’s certain you’d find it on pictures from all over the region. I, for one, am all for a hashtag as awesome as that one.
6. Festival Festivities
I don’t know about most other areas, but around here we take our festivals pretty seriously. There isn’t a season where there aren’t multiple festivals that you are almost certain to run into your friends at. And of course, you have to document your time spent there.
7. Apple Picking
You know autumn has arrived in the Finger Lakes when the apple orchard photos start rolling in! But with good reason; it’s one of the most fun things about fall! And then comes wonderful applesauce, pie, and apple crisp. Yum!
