So… I tried something brand new recently.
I was gifted a GoPro this summer, and basically had to learn how to use it from the ground up. I’d never operated that type of camera before. However, I figured I had a perfect opportunity to try it out with a head strap when I went canoeing a few weeks ago.
If you are around the Corning/Big Flats area, I have three really great spots to put canoes (or other similar watercraft) into the river. The first (and where this video was filmed) is right off of Cohocton Street, which is right off the main road that runs through Corning called Denison Parkway. If you’re coming from the east, turn right at Dunkin Donuts and you’ll be headed toward the river. Drive up and over the gravel road and you’ll reach the right spot.
The second is a little boat launch on River Road in South Corning. The third is Bottcher’s Landing in Big Flats, right next to a bridge that goes over the river. These two are really peaceful, because they aren’t right by the highway like the one in town is.
The really new thing that I did, is edit a video. I’ve been into photography for years (just for fun) but have never really dipped a toe into anything film-related. However, I decided to try it with this canoeing footage. I’m basically teaching editing to myself as I go along, so I apologize if the quality isn’t the best!
With that being said, here is my first “real” YouTube video. I hope you like it, and I hope it inspires you to go canoeing or maybe kayaking sometime soon!
PS: I plan to try to do more fun videos like this on my channel, so subscribe on YouTube if you want to stay in the loop!
