I truly don’t know how I missed hearing about this last year, its debut year, but I’m glad I know about it now! The second annual Finger Lakes Frost Festival will be at the Geneva Lakefront Ramada Hotel on February 20, perfect for an after-Valentine’s Day date.
This is really cool, instead of hunkering down and wishing winter away, this is a festival that celebrates it. It sort of reminds me of Frozen. Features will include:
- outdoor ice sculptures and ice bars with specialty Frost Fest Martinis poured through an ice luge
- music from Finger Lakes DJ Services
- indoor food tastings from local restaurants
- wine tastings from award winning (who else?) Finger Lakes wineries
- shuttle services to and from downtown parking areas
- evening fireworks display from the city pier
The Geneva YMCA is putting on this frosty, cool event, and their program director Mary Bakogiannis had this to say about the first festival, “Last year Frost Festival sold out a week before the event and we received so much positive feedback from the attendees…many braved the wind and cold outside and we had plenty of food and wine tastings inside. Frost Fest 2016 is going to be even better.” We’re taking her word for it!
The YMCA is reaching out to the city’s business district and local business owners and is hoping to turn the bustle of the festival into a full weekend event. Most attendees last year came from outside of Geneva, and they’re hoping to use that knowledge to their benefit.
Tickets can be purchased at the Geneva YMCA or at brownpapertickets.com and are $25. For questions or sponsorship opportunities, call the Geneva YMCA. Geneva, New York is located on the northern tip of Seneca Lake and is in both Ontario and Seneca counties.
